Edendale Farm- A lovely nature and farm experience for children

farm experience for children

Visit Edendale Farm for fresh air and a relaxing day out!

Edendale Farm, located in Eltham, is a lovely place to visit with children of any age. It is an interactive community farm and education centre managed by the  Nillumbik Shire Council. The farm was created to support sustainable living practices for the whole community. They are open daily from 09:30 – 16:30 except on Christmas Day and extreme and code red fire danger days. Entry is free – gold coin donations are welcome.

Children can say hello to guinea pigs and other farm animals including sheep, goats, cows and poultry. Families can learn about sustainable living and how to improve their environment. There is a lovely native nursery that produces over 100 000 local native plants each year from seeds and cuttings sourced from the Shire’s many reserves and vegetation areas, so you can stock up on plants for your garden and even a worm factory and worms.

When it’s time for a drink or something to eat, Cafe Eden is at your service, serving light meals, hot drinks, smoothies, cold drinks, breakfast and much more.

Edendale farm also hosts children’s birthday parties with a package catering for kids under three and another for kids above three.

A variety of fun activities are hosted during schools holidays, so keep an eye on their updated programme for each holiday period.

The Practically Green Festival is a highlight on the Edendale Farm calendar offering a fantastic family day out with music, children’s activities, entertainment, local food and wine, market stalls, a sustainable art project and sustainable building and lifestyle exhibitors. Keep an eye on their website for dates and times.

So look no further for a bit of fresh air and quality family time with this lovely farm experience for children and the whole family.
